Virgin spacecraft makes maiden voyage!

I'd rather the R&D came from a government backed program than from Richard Branson.

As smart and rich as he is, he still strikes me a as a bit of a chronic bong smoker when he's off camera and maybe a little too interested in making more millions. Kind of a playboy type to me. Remember what we're talking about here and what he's proposing. I wish him well but "I highly doubt it."

R&D isn't from Richard B. the money is, the R&D is from Burt Rutan and his team.

I'll go in it, actually I'll bet it is safer than the space shuttle / has less casualties. I have followed the development of it for a long time, I'm a pilot and one of my dreams is to go into space.

Ahhh. This is the quote that confused me. Maybe it's the beer and/or old age, but it was a bit confusing...

Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Galactic said in a statement, "Seeing the finished spaceship in December was a major day for us, but watching VSS Enterprise fly for the first time really brings home what beautiful, groundbreaking vehicles Burt and his team have developed for us," referring to Burt Rutan, whose company Scaled Composites built the spacecraft.

I thought 'us' was in context of the company. Maybe he meant the public 'us'.

So what are you flying these days? I know you've posted in the past. Just curious. Any photos?

I talked to a transcontintental pilot once and thought he had the coolest job in the world. He didn't seem to think so though.

So, the guy that bankrolls a film, is not part of the film?

If you invest in something to get it done, you are a part of it.

Still have my Mirage I bought new but am thinking about selling it to buy a used PC-12, a high school friend has 2 of them and is making me a deal on one that is to good pass up.

A good buddy of mine flies international for UPS, he works 7-10 days a month, he hates, it got old after 5 years he said and he never has to deal with passengers. I'd never do it for a job, awesome hobby though!

I have logged all of 3 hours total (minute or so completely hands free of an instructor). Always wanted my license.

Thanks, I didn't think so when I first saw it. I ordered it new, Piper ****ed up the colors and it came out looking like a god damn duracell battery, they knocked off a **** load of money so I took it, that was 10 years ago, I have put over 1,100 hours on it since.

Ahhh. Just give it to me then.

"Indie-Arms now offers a converted aircraft for aerial strafing runs. See our new Piper in the beautiful Duracell color scheme, complete with wing mounted .50's. Who want something represented by a bunny?"

I am liking this. Okay, so when should I come by to get it?

Chip: Yeah, you better be smiling in those pictures. Man, that is nice. Thanks for the photos.

We need private space efforts. This is cool. It feels like NASA has been backpedaling for thirty years, sometimes.

if only our own brandon rice had held out a few more months longer, he could have piloted this thing.

"The spacecraft took the journey while remaining attached to its mothership." A voyage, but not into space yet.

This (?) Pilatus PC-12?

Don't make me come down there and marry your damn sister now. Mmmmmm, Uncle Chip. Has a nice ring to it.

I won't even mention the word 'Drool'. Whoops. Too late.

Yeah, but can HE do THIS?

(^Kidding.
The Mirage looks amazing. Never mind the C-12 imo, I'd keep the Mirage. But what you really need is a Spitfire though, but I digress. )
