I need a head asap.
and they both seem to get rave reviews on the site.
is there anyone who has used both and can tell me if there are any +'s or -'s
in comparison of eachother.

also if anyone knows of one for sale used please let me know as I am on a super tight budget.

thanks as always.

Vinten tripods are very well made, light and a favorite of highend ENG crews.
They're also much more expensive than most systems with the same characteristics.
If you are going just for the HVX the Vinten System 3 should be enough, if you're planning on using some accessories (matte box, firestore, monitoring, etc...) you'll need something larger than that. Vinten are very light.

About the Cartoni Focus you have a lot of information on this site.

At the end, as usual, is a personal choice.

A very handy feature on the vinten is the ability to quickly change springs in the head to accomodate a variety of cameras. When we moved from a large camcorder to the HVX all we needed was one inexepensive part.

I don't know about the cartoni focus (although it looks nice)
