Vimeo saved my day

After a computercrash I lost my davinci-project-files (because I was unaware that these were saved on the main OS-disk which crashed of course). (Now with Davincie 14 you can change the storage of the project files more easy.) All the original files were located on disks with backup, except for this project file.

This happened after I send my video for viewing to Vimeo, for my client. Of course the client wanted some changes, but now I had no original project file.

But I found out that Vimeo also stores the original file (the not-converted one). You can download it and edit it (or use it as reference.)

So vimeo saved my day.

Yep.

I dislike software that makes critical stuff without you knowing where it is put.. I thought I was working in a manner where if my main computer blew I could be safe - as you see this is not the case.

With Resolve I now 'export project' on a regular basis and store it with the footage.

This means if my computer pops I just take the hard drive to another machine, install Resolve and continue.

And yep Vimeo can be good for quick searches and also faux cloud backup.
