Vimeo goes 1080P

Vimeo ads 1080P support for plus users.

"First up: 1080p support. If you're a Plus user, you can now optionally upgrade new or existing 1080p videos to be played back in full 1080p. To do this, go to the settings page of your video, then click "video file", then check the "Display this video in 1080p" box. Your video will re-encode and soon be available in 1080p to everyone! We're calling this feature experimental: that means to use caution before enabling 1080p, since viewers may experience choppy playback. Remember that very few computers have 1920x1080 monitors and 720p will load about twice as fast. You can always uncheck the box to go back to 720p."

They also added direct AVCHD support.

Yup, tried it this morning, looks very good (better than YT's 1080p) since they use a higher bitrate but I don't think I'll be utilizing the feature. It takes too long to load on my 2 minutes test video compared to 720p and I have a fairly fast internet connection. Since right now you can enable only 720p or 1080p for a video, potential viewers might be turned off by the long load time and potentially slower playback.

They've had AVCHD upload for a while and I should know since a lot of my GH1 videos are native. When they first started it, you would have to change the extension for some cameras in order to upload the video but even that seamed to be solved for a while now. Their just not calling it BETA anymore.

True. They mention that in the link.
