Well said. I see way too many videographers who call themselves DPs and haven't used other lights than LED-panels or maybe Redheads. People who haven't heard expressions like contrast ratios, flags or diffusion. Cinematography is not only about the camera, but about the lighting. Heck sometimes I find the camera in the way... Sometimes I look at the light in a room and I leave sad, knowing that not all the beautiful light we put it in actually could make it onto the film (based on angles and blocking). The camera is your canvas, but lighting are your brushes. That is what really creates feeling, space and reality, the camera is what takes it all in.
