Die Hard

Hans Gruber

What a performance by Alan Rickman

Hans Gruber: I wanted this to be professional. Efficient, adroit, cooperative, not a lot to ask. Alas, your Mr. Takagi did not see it that way, so he won't be joining us for the rest of his life.

Just to name a few:

Tim Roth's Archibald Cunningham in Rob Roy ("I will tell you something, to take with you. Your wife was far sweeter forced than many are willing. In truth to put to it I think not all of her objected.")

Billy Zane's Cal Hockley in Titanic ("Not the better half."...when told half of the passengers would die)

Joaquin Phoenix's Commodus in Gladiator ("They tell me your son... squealed like a girl when they nailed him to the cross. And your wife... moaned like a whore when they ravaged her again and again... and again")

Those "mamalucs"!

Jeremy Irons as Claus Von Bulow in Reversal of Fortune. Did he or didn't he? Irons rocks. Also great in Waterland and Stealing Beauty. Subtlety is so very hard to do.

Lee J. Cobb as Johnny Friendly in "On the Waterfront"... Wow.

George C. Scott as Bert Gordon in "The Hustler". Double wow.

Strother Martin in "Cool Hand Luke".

Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko in "Wall Street".

Louise Fletcher as Nurse Mildred Ratched in "One Flew Over The Cukoo's Nest".

Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes in "Misery".

That's all I can think of right now, I will get back to this.

Love to hate?

That's different question from just love.

Hugo Drax comes to mind.

"James Bond. You reappear with the tedious inevitability of an unloved season."

The Ultimate Villian: Sensei Kreese of the Cobra Kai Dojo

Kreese: What do we study here?
Karate Class: THE WAY OF THE FIST SIR.
Kreese: And what is that way?
Karate Class: STRIKE FIRST. STRIKE HARD. NO MERCY SIR.

Kreese: Fear does not exist in this dojo, does it?
Student: No, Sensei.
Kreese: Pain does not exist in this dojo, does it?
Student: No, Sensei.
Kreese: Defeat does not exist in this dojo, does it?
Student: No, Sensei.

He was always giving the Smurfs a hard time. Azrael was evil, too.
