What is the difference between a "vignette" and a short film. I recently saw Paris Je'Taime which is made up of 18 "vignettes". But what separates a vignette from a short?

I've also seen Paris, je t'aime. It was good!
Looks to me from Wikipedia that a vignette is a short scene which focuses on one moment or give a "trenchant" impression about a character. A short film can be longer, more complicated or more traditional than that. I suppose every vignette on film is a short film but not every short film is a vignette.

Agreed, there's also another film in that series called New York, I Love You which I just watched the other night and really, really enjoyed it, even more so than Paris, Je T'aime

It seemed to me like Inglorious Bastards was sequenced in this style. That film had no more then 8-10 scenes and all of which could be a film in itself.
