Hey all,
Does everyone on here use a viewfinder to set up shots, composition, storyboards in pre production?
I borrowed a Mark Vb from a friend of mine and I loved it. It covered a vairety of focal lengths, everything from super 16mm to video 2/3". I found it useful for composing shots, angles early on so my story boards were a little bit more clear.
I guess it all depends on the director. Darren Aronfsky uses that huge unit that looks like a bullhorn on The Fountain. On the other hand Jean Pierre Jenuet used a little Sony camcorder to frame his shots. Then he just printed each shot out and storyboarded with those pictures on a big peice of cardboard. He only did this for his movie Amelie.
I was just wondering what everyone used because I might pick one up.
Thanks
Ed
