VidLED light and wedding, my experience.

I just received my VidLED camera light, I got the brightest one. I also ordered two batteries from the banner ad on this forum. Besides my batteries getting lost or not sent, I had a great experience with them. The VidLED camera light has great packaging, works just like expected, and is EXTREMELY bright. I got the adapter to use my Panasonic batteries, that is why I ordered two more. I got the longest cord for the adapter and was a little dissapointed because it didnt comfortably reach my belt. I am 6ft, 180 so if that helps you judge the length of the cord. I ended up mounting it ontop of the light, which worked but then i had the cord hanging down and hitting my mic now and then. I would recommend the shorter the cord for newer buyers. Some people complained that the brighter light is too blue, I just set two white presets on my camera, one for close, and for far. It worked great, lit the whole reception when the lights when down, I didnt miss a shot at all. I used my stock Panasonic battery for the light and newer batteries for the camera, and the stock battery lasted all day. I used the light for everything but the ceremony. just dimmed it to about 20% for nice key lighting,.

Vid Leds rock! I used one today to light a piano that was being played by Dan Wilson, you know..the Semisonic guy? The day before I used it as a daytime fill, interviewing two people. Last week I used it to light some statues that were in a Winery in CA.
I do agree that the daylight it too blue, but it is easily corrected with gel, which comes with the light. I color metered mine at 6600 degrees. I am thinking of buying a tungsten unit soon.
Marcus, the guy who makes them, has great service. My charger died a month after I bought it and he rushed one to me at no charge.

Buy one, you will be happy. The internal battery one is worth the extra cost as well!

I bought the Tekkeon battery with mine. I wired the battery to power both my LCD and the VidLed light. Works like a champ for hours and hours. I put it all on my DV Rig.

VidLed's site is not updated yet but they are shipping Tekkeon's new model, MP3450, which allows for the extra $99 expansion battery to double the battery life.....which is already hella long. Check out Tekkeon's site if you need more details.

I also used mine (last weekend in fact) for daylight interview fill. I have the cool led and I rarely see any blue on daylight. But like others have said, if it is an issue you can CTO. Nice thing about the Tekkeon battery is, it has a selectable output, so if you need it to be a little brighter...you can up the voltage. VidLed says their lights are good up to 30 if I remember correctly.

I don't know of anything existing that will make the Tekkeon work with the DVX. It would not be that hard to construct though. You could use the part of the a/c power connector that attaches to the camera and an adapter to the Tekkeon plug. Just make sure it is set to the correct voltage!!!

As a side note, I have 3 DVXUser batteries that have lasted me years. I'm prob going to get 3 more here soon just so I have the newest version. I use the Tekkeon just for on-board lights and my LCD monitor.
