Video wont link with audio

For a while now i have been dealing with a problem where after i drag video into a time line with the audio, none of it is linked. i can select the audio and then link it but it doesnt link to the video. Its not that big of a deal its just annoying when i go to drag video, i have to select the audio to drag it as well. i have checked everywhere and cant seem to find where i can change a setting. Sorry if this is a stupid question but i know there a lot of FCP guru's on here an i am not one of them. Thanks guys!

Apple+L with both video and audio clip selected. Also Shift+L if they are already connected. You can tell if they are linked to each other if both the names on the clips have underlines.
