Hi guys,

I had a little spare time and did a video tutorial on how to build a basic vibrating DoF adapter in 5 easy steps!

That should help those people who needs some basic information and dont want to go through thousands of posts.

If someone has new ideas to implement in that tutorial just mail me.

You can download the video-tutorial from my homepage.
See the tutorials section. And of course its all for free!!!

have fun
Daniel

thanks again

very nice, you should CNC some bayonet to 72mm thread adapter rings so you can use the bayonet mount on the camera like the hood does.

Hi Ruska,

thats a great idea but at the moment I dont have the money to afford a cam like the HVX200 or FX1. When I get somedays such a cam be sure that I will come with many more new things especially for this cam.

Right now I working with a friend on a software-mod for the HV-20 to get manual shutter and aperture and also a image flipping directly in the camcorder itself. So that it will capture the footage directly flipped to tape and viewfinder when you are using a 35mm dof adapter. No need for switch-mod.
Lets see if we hack this baby.

even cheaper cams have bayonet mounts. I wish there were bayonet adapter rings for the DVX. I know I would buy one if there was and Im sure others would too.

That software hack idea sounds really cool.

Nice tutorial, I'm going to use it soon! Love the thing you are working for hv20. I have one so it will be quite interesting! keep up the good work!

btw Does canon FD extansions tube work fine as EOS tube? I have a Canon FD 1.8 lense 50mm, if that FD tube works, i can skip the adapter for the lense and so on...

does anyone know how these DIY vibrating adapters compare to the brevis/m2/other adapters?

i have a century optics achromat and was just wondering how the light loss/quality would compare to more expensive adapters

Daniel,
When it comes to adjusting for the back focus, that needs to be done prior to attaching the adapter to the camera, correct? I am waiting on one more set of extension tubes from the Hong Kong guys and then I will be building my Doby35 adapter. :)

Hey guys,

Would it be possible to use Nikon extension tubes instead of the Canon EOS tubes? Is there a fundamental difference? I don't think I'll be using EOS lenses at all, so this would save on buying a mount adapter.

Also, what kind of achromat should I get for my dvx100 (original)?

Hi Mariachi,

you can use also Nikon tubes but you have to order them first then measure the inner diameter and check which vibrating gg-holder you'll need the VH-54 or VH-55. Thats the problem with the Nikon tubes there are two version out there with different inner diameters. If you are using the Canon EOS tubes you will always use the VH-57 Ver. 1.1 or the more advanced VH-57X with interchangeable gg-holder plates...

For the DVX100 I recommend you an achromat from Wayne Kinney R3 Achromat or the Cinevate achromat from Dennis Wood. Also you will need 2x extension tubes set for building your dof adapter for the DVX100.

Contact me by e-mail I check the forums rarely.

Have fun guys
all the best
