Video Track- Different frame rate

Hey everyone,

I captured some footage, 24 p (NO advanced), and then created a new Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 project with the settings:
DV NTSC-
Standard 48kHz.

Custom settings-
Timebase: 23.976
Fields: No fields, progressive
Display Format: 24 fps Timecode

So- I create the project, inport my footage, and right click the footage and select "properties", there it says that the actual file does have a fram rate of 23.976. Now, below that it says that "Video Track 1" has a frame rate of 29.976. That is what I'm confused about. The source footage and the video track are contradicting eachother. Not sure what that really means in the long run of the project, but I would like to get it cleared up.

If anyone can help me clear this up, that would be great.

Thanks
-Logan

Sometimes Premiere needs to be told what the settings are on the footage you're importing.

Have you tried right clicking on the footage in the project window and select "Interpret Footage"
You can make sure that premiere sees your footage as 24P and if it doesn't, you can change it.
If that doesn't work,
You might also try going into Project/settings/playback and make make sure playback is set for 24p

Also try setting playback setting for drop frame and non drop frame.

In the future, if you need to set the project to drop frame, you can do that when you customize your new projects.

let me know if that fixes your problem.

24PN (normal pulldown 2:3) should be edited as 29.97, 24PA (advanced pulldown 2:3:3:2) as 23.976. There is only the disadvantage of having your pulldown play back incorrectly by trying to work with 24PN as if it were 24PA. Your project settings, DV NTSC- Standard 48kHz, are correct for your 24PN footage. Why are you trying to change the frame rate? If you want to create a 24P DVD you need to shoot 24PA and use Premiere's 24P project setting.
