Video shot to dark help

I screwed up in a big way with a project I was working on.
To make a long story short I forgot to set the irus on the shoot.....I know, I know I am a idiot. After setting up soft boxes and mics and dealing with everthing going on around me, I freakin forgot!

I am using Vegas 5 and tryied to use brightness and contrast but it made the picture look milky.
Any suggestions as to what I might try with in the program?
I tried to up load a picture in the grabs section but I guess you can't do that anymore.

any help would be a life saver.

I was hoping to post a grab, but have no way to do it.

Off to color curves.
 
Thanks David, that made a big difference. it is very usable now.
Just a touch of contrast also helped.
