Video seems dark in FCP

i'm currently editing with FCP 6 on an iMac (3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 duo). I noticed when I upgraded to Snow Leopard a few months ago that my video footage (shot on hpx 170) appears a lot darker now when viewing it inside of FCP on the timeline and also when I view it full screen. However, it wasn't like that before I upgraded my OS and the source footage doesn't look like that when viewing the QT files in quicktime player. I need to color correct a short film I just finished but just realized I'm not able to see the footage properly.

FYI - I also noticed the same issue with Photoshop CS5 as well. Colors seem darker inside the program on psd projects since upgrading my OS.

Any advice or tips? Anybody else noticed this?

nevermind. found the problem and the solution. In case anybody else runs into this situation:

Snow Leopard has changed the screen Gamma from 1.8 to 2.2. This gives the effect of slightly darker images. You can of course set the gamma back to 1.8 when you do this, if you want. System Preferences > Display > Color > Calibrate
