Hey all,

Some of you may remember my video review of CAME-TV's 1200 economic HMI light. I've been gearing up for some future projects and decided to take the plunge on their version of a fresnel-style LED light. Granted, who knows if they actually produce these things since many sellers seem to sell the same product, but I've had good experiences with them previously so I figured I'd try them out again. If any of you are interested in picking up this light or one like it, hopefully you'll find this review helpful:

For those of you who are interested in checking out the review of their economic 1200 watt HMI, you can find that video here:

Please feel free to let me know your thoughts on the reviews and/or if you have any questions!

Interesting.

More or less the conclusion I would have expected, though. Magenta often means they're running a bit too warm; if you happened to have one of those laser thermometers, you could measure the LED device and see how hot it was getting.

Fascinating, I actually wasn't aware of that! I do have one, Around what temperature should it be running at? Do you have any idea?

Not the foggiest, unfortunately. The trick would be if it starts off less magenta and becomes more magenta as it warms up. It's probably just as likely that that's simply how it is, though. Even quite expensive LEDs have worse problems, sadly.

Well Tommy - another great product review you've done here!

But I gotta say...that light's a dog.
(And why do we say that anyway? That something's a 'dog' if it performs poorly... dog's are awesome, if something sucks we should say it's NOT a dog. Dontcha think?)

Thank you! Really glad you enjoyed it :) Also, I'm notoriously a polyanna when it comes to this stuff :P I can still find a use for it and I'm sure I will use it on future productions so I don't count it a loss. Agreed though that we need new terminology! I love dogs :)

I'm not sure "sucks" is very fair. There are many worse.

Agreed. I think it's a pretty average quality light, all things considered, when compared to other lights in similar price classes and power outputs. It's not great by any means but I've actually seen LEDs that are much worse (and of course many that are much better).
