Video Quality Problem

I recently had my PC desktop wiped and re-installed the CS4 suite with all of my video drivers updated. In Premiere when playing video in either preview or my timeline the video seems to be very framey / stop go / skipping frames. My video quality settings are on auto and can't figure out why this is happening.

When playing the same avi files in quicktime & windows media the quality is great and looks how it should be.

Anyone have similar problems? Please help thanks!
 
What kind of AVI files? AVI is a container and can hold many different kinds of audio & video. Use gspot or mediainfo if you don' t know

Could be a field order issue if it skips back and forth and it's interlaced. You could interpret the footage either as top or bottom field first

Are you sure? Quicktime on Windows platform , to my knowledge, cannot handle AVI
