Video Processing

can someone explain to me the differences in video processing in FCP4
- always render in RGB
- Render in 8-bit YUV (which is what I have selected)
- Render all YUV material in high-percision YUV

Im not only curious to know what each selection does, but how it can affect my projects, and for the application of DVX 24p editing going to DVD - which is the best selection?

thanks for any input

RGB is just that, each pixel is made up from red, green and blue, and is the space used by computers, so it's suitable for web movies and the such-like.

YUV, more correctly called Y'CbCr is a colour difference encoding, whereby the video is split into one luma component Y' and two chroma components, Cb and Cr. This is so that the resolution of the chroma can be reduced compared to the luma as a form of video compression.

Your camera records Y'CbCr in 8bit, so editing in that is correct. You can try the high precision mode, but I've never, ever seen it make any difference, and I've looked, and it's very buggy.
