Video out on G5

What is a cheap video card or capture device for the G5 that will let me do video out to a production monitor, just so I can watch my footage on the production monitor while im editing?

cheapest is to run the signal out of firewire to your dv cam, then out to your monitor.

Best is to get a hardware card system. I'm using Kona2 from AJA and you can't beat it.

When I do that the monitor flickers like crazy, and looks like its dying, but then if I just play straight from the DV cam its fine.

Sounds like you're not sending a compatible signal. If you are using DV-NTSC make sure you select the DV NTSC Easy Setup.
