Video not exporting correctly

When exporting interpreted footage (DV 1.2), it appears as 4:3 footage in Windows Media player and Quicktime. Why is this? All the export settings appear to be correct...

Thanks,
Sean

hmm.. What encoder are you using? Adobe Video Encoder cause ive had problems with that and heard it sucks from others. Im using Canapus through prmeiere pro and its working great... heard that milvid? working great!

I did change some settings in Premiere: File -> Export -> Adobe Media Encoder...

From this window, I edited the standard settings for Quick Time. The enconder is Sorenson Video 3 Compressor, Pixel Aspect Ratio is set to same as project.

I then go to file -> export -> movie and select Quicktime as my file format, and I get a distorted image. I worked out the aspect ration to this: The movie file gets squished into 1.5:1, while the suff I'm working with works out to be 1.8:1.

Honestly, I'm not sure why I even need to tweak any settings besides compression rates. It seems a little bit... unecessary to go through other options. It's safe to assume I'll choose "same as project", if not, I'll be the first to notify you of the change Premiere.

I agree with you. But for some reason i never got anything good until I started using Canapus Procoder with Premiere Pro.

If I want to export say, a 16:9 aspect ratio...I set the output to have 16:9 dimensions. 560x315, 480x270, 400x225, etc. Time to break out the calculator.

Wait, so I invested in the Panasonic Anamorphic lens to save my resolution, only to be take a huge hit in the editing process?

I'm hoping that a guru will weigh in on this topic.

As stated, when I measure the frame in Premire the aspect ratio is 1.8:1. I figure that's simple enough, so I drop down the resolution to 720x400, which is also 1.8:1/

:kali:

Wouldn't you know it? Adobe Premiere is still improperly encoding the video. I got the same 1.5:1 aspect ration as before, now with vertical black bars on the sides!

GREAT! Now premiere is quitting every time I go to export. No save dialogue boxes or error messages.

Sbryan,
I'm not sure what you're trying to do...but I'll assume you are exporting a clip for the web. Try going to "Export," then select "movie." Select settings. Now you can select quicktime, and sorenson 3 or whatever compressor you want to use. Now select 640x360 for your file size, and select square pixels. It should say 16:9 next to the frame size. This should export a widescreen quicktime file.

You can select any size you want as long as it stays 16x9. I've also found that using Quicktime Pro gives me much sharper quicktimes than using Premiere Pro. I'm not sure why.

Hope this helps.

you should show us a step by step of how you are doing it so we can really figure out the problem. Maybe reformat the computer hehe. Thats my quick answer. I love reformated cause it just makes everything so clean and im so quick at it by now that it doesn't take more than 3 hours to get back to the point i was before.....

Not that i need to do it all the time but i do!

Okay, I'll create a step by step when I get home tonight.

On a side note though, I heard it might "Export to DVD" correctly... but it gives me a sense error...

Which leads me to believe it's caused by DiVX or out of date firmware on my Burner (or I can't burn on DVD-R). That I'll look into as well.

Sweet. I installed Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 and all problems have been fixed. Better encoders? Better software?
