Hello,

I own a Panasonic HVX200 and lately have been booking a lot of live shows concerts runway shows etc and am in need to purchase a wireless video light.

can someone be kind enough to point me to the right direction as to where to purchase one online and the best model?

thanks

Please excuse my ignorance on wireless video lights. Does that mean that they have no wires from the battery to power them or is it because they can be placed at a distance from the camera say on a tripod away from the camera ?. I do a lot of live rock bands and fashion shows and I use a 2200 lumen( 125 watt halogen equivalent) LED video light that is powered from the camcorder batteries and sits on top of the camera. Does that make it "wireless" ? I can always take it and put it on a tripod or whatever and power it up from a separate DC battery or from an AC mains.

The Z96 lights work great. We sold all our lite panels (had some problems with quality and service lately) and got those instead.
They work with Sony batteries or 6 AA. And you can stack em together if you need more light.

Forget the filters (they are crap) and use gels instead.

Should be less than $90 on ebay.

Also to consider is the lumens output (brightness) of the light needed. If you need for example a 100 watt equivalent, that is around 1700 lumen led light. Those AA powered units are in my opinion only suitable for close distances (5 to 10 ft.) and interview work. For fashion shows, live bands, weddings, events, you need serious output in the order of 1600 to 2000 lumens. Unless grain goes up with the gain.

Specs say 450 lux at 3ft, That is at it's native bluish 5600K, How much lumens does it drop when the yellowish CC filter is added ? Also a 40 degree beam, how can that cover a 60 degree angle on my lens at the widest setting ? Do people think of these factors before purchasing. That thing is only good for 5 ft distances, At best.

Just ordered those two. They are rated at 960 and 1480 LUX - Should be here in 2 days.
I´m doing a "Cheap LED Light Shootout" with the 4 most popular lights - that will answer those questions.
