Video layers in FCP?

hey all-

i'm currently editing a clip in which i want other images to fade in and out of without the master clip fading out altogether. what is the easiest way to do that? is it even possible to do real video layers in fcp or do i need to use after effects?

never mind-

i figured it out. i just set the opacity to where i want it with keyframes on the clips on the second video channel while keeping my master clip on the first video channel.

You could also just ad a standered disovle and the clip you have in layer one will stay and the clip you have above it will disolve away. Think of it just like photoshop. What ever is on the top layer will be seen and what ever is under it will be seen when that top clip ends. You can also resize your top clip and have both on the screen at the same time
