Video Lags on Video Preview

I'm having a problem with a video lag when viewing my Vegas video preview.

I have Vegas pro 8. My computer has good memory. I'm running vista. RAM = 3. The computer has plenty of memory.
I preview on the setting of: PREVIEW (AUTO)

I have a double monitor setup and like to have the video preview on the 2nd monitor, but it lags. If I drag it to the first monitor and dock it, there is not lag. If i undock and make the video bigger, it begins to lag again.

Video drivers seem to be good. I've messed with this issue quite a bit and have been able to get it to where, it will start out okay, but after a minute or so, the lag starts up and it gets worse as time goes by. Sometimes if i dock it on the first monitor and then pull it back to the 2nd monitor, it will be okay for a few minutes, but then the lag starts again.

Any ideas as to what the problem could be?
 
Sound to me like you need a beefer video card. The clue is how it lags when you make it bigger. Nvidia is the best for Vegas. I use a GTS250 and can do anything I want. No lag to speak of really with dual monitors 24" and 28".
 
A fast-bandwidth card can give Vegas an extra 10% speed, but that doesn't mean that it will accelerate properly, since Vegas doesn't support PureVideo2.
