you know whats really pissing me off.... is if you look at quicktime.com's movie trailers their file sizes are close to nothing, the audio is amazing, and the picture can't be touched. I have a just one minute long video, and in order for it to look like anything I would want to show off, it has to be around 22-25 megabytes! How the hell in Vegas do I compress my file, not lose color, look sharp, have great audio and minimize the file size!? I have played with all kinds of setting .mov @ 1mbps, 3mbps(23 mb. by the way) wmv.... etc.! Is there something I'm missing here.... look at disjecta's stuff closest i've seen yet to the quickitime compression. Someone help me!

Use a compression program like Sorenson Squeeze. It's fantastic.

As for quicktime.com's stuff... I think they use hardware compressors. Great quality at a huge cost, though.

Yaa.... that's only $500, for a compression program! Come on people, there has to be a better way.

I think vegas does a very good job. You should try WMV files. They seem to be the best quaility and smallest file that I have found built in to vegas.

I know that is not what you want to here but I think microshaft did a good job stealing this compression scheme from whoever invented it.

WM9 is a variant of H.264, which has been promised for the "next" version of Quicktime, but you can use it now in Windows Media.
