Video dropout correction

So I know Digital heaven has a video dropout plugin, but I don't feel like paying 10 bucks, any quickfixes to the prob? I was thinking of exporting it into aftereffects, then photoshop as a filmstrip, do the correction by replacing the field with one of the previous, and then going back into aftereffects to final cut. I hate dropouts!!! The scene is a midshot of two faces, and its still so correction hopefully won't be too hard. If anyone has an easier idea, I would love you forever.

Re: Video dropout correction

I'd take it into Commotion and fix it in a minute but since you probably don't have it:

In FCP layer the clip on top of itself. Offset top layer by 1 frame. Use 4 or 8 point garbage matte. Set edges to feather(not sure if FCP is smart enough to do this) Make a matte around the problem spot. You should now be compositing a small piece from the previous or next frame. If you want to get fancy you can layer a frame before and a frame after and blend them at 50% each over the original.

Photoshop is very much of a last resort when dealing with moving images. You can also do the above in After Effects.
