Totally Usable
A lot of people seem focused on some other external recorders, so it's easy to forget about Video Devices and their PIX-E5. But every year I stop by their booth at NAB, and every year I leave thinking, "man that stuff is built like a tank and looks great."
The PIX-E5 isn't new, but they are adding H.264 recording to it, along with the ability to simultaneously record high-quality ProRes files AND highly-compressed H.264 files. A pretty handy feature a lot of DIT types will find extremely helpful.

They've also got a $300 rebate program going on for any purchase of the SL-6. I'm not going to pretend to know what the SL-6 does, but if you know, you might be able to save a little money, you know?
