video deck problem

I have some tapes integral to a piece I am working on, that was shot on cheapo maxell mini dv tapes on a dvx 100. The JVC deck I am using doesn't want to read them. Any thoughts.

Unless you need a component connection, you could use firewire from a camera.

You could put the tapes in the DVX, hook it up to the JVC deck via firewire and transfer them to better tapes that the JVC deck will like.

I had this happen with a Canon XH A1. Tapes recorded on that camera did not play back properly (too many dropped frames) on Sony devices, so I brought the Canon into work, hooked it up to the Sony Z1 via firewire and made new tapes. (This of course assumes the original tapes playback on the original device.)

Why bother- just use the DVX. One show is not going to kill it.
