I need a bad a$$ video card. Plain and simple. My current one is crap, not even worth describing. What do people recommend? (Obviously it would be for editing hi-def video on my PC)

well I have a Geforce 8800GTS 640MB DDR3 Video card, its huge you need a big case and nice powersupply.

Get ateast a 1gb card or a 897MB thats what i plan on getting soon.

x2 897mb video cards would be perfect

what software do you use to edit? as i understand it, vegas is not dependent on the video card for rendering, just for previewing. and if you're using a pc but not using vegas, then you are beyond my help anyway! ;)

I'm using Adobe CS4, which I can tell totally depends on a good video card.

If you are thinking of updating to cs5 check the graphic card compatibility with the new Mercury playback engine, if you get one from the quadro lineup or the gtx285 you can get the most out of the gpu capabilities of the new Premiere.

I have the gtx260 (nvidia) and I don't have any performance problem nor in editing or playing (which I don't really have time for)...
