just had to pass this on to anyone looking to sort out the mess that is video capture in Windows XP (from a VCR or other non DV source).
the bundled software is pretty good (kinda ugly but it works and has lots of codec and user options, including editing and DVD burning).
rarely can you just plug a complex video/audio card in Windows, stick in the driver CD, and it installs and runs perfect. always driver issues or conflicts. not this time.
very nice.
best $20 bucks I've spent in a while. don't be fooled by the pic. that's not an s-video jack. it's a custom jack that has an included attachment with RCA video, s-video, RCA audio left+right, and a sound card patch cable. very sweet little setup.
