Video Bit rate too high?

I am editing my 24p film with FCP and I recently added a 2.35:1 matte to a nested timeline. Then I used Fastest encoded widescreen with compressor and sent it to DVD studio Pro, however, it came up with an error message I had never seen: video bit rate too high.
anyone know what I can do?
thanks
jeff

Use one of the presets in Compressor - some DVD players have trouble playing anything with a bit rate over 6.2 mbps.

I have run into this problem a few times myself. When you use compressor, most of the time you end up with an AIFF file for your audio. You can take that AIFF audio file into 'A.Pack' and convert it into an AC3 file which is about 1/3 the size. For me, this works 9 times out of 10 and I'm then able to burn the DVD.

You can also manually configure the video (mpeg).m2v file manually after you select a preset in compressor. Whether you choose good, bad, best, 60, 90, 120 min, ect in Compressor, you can always manually edit the options in detail. Adjust your video bitrate to an average of 6.8 to 7.5 and a max of 8.0 mbps. If you then encode audio with A.Pack and use the resulting AC3 file, you should be fine.

Mjmcneese2 is right about some older gen DVD players not being able to play high bitrate DVDs but almost any new or recent DVD player can handle the higher bit rates. DVDs themselves cannot excede a 9mbps bitrate in delivery of audio and video as far as I know since DVD studio pro cuts off at 9 mbps.
