Video 23.98, Audio 29.97

My sound mixer is recording sound off camera at 29.97. I'm shooting in 1080i 24pa. How will the sound and picture be synched? I read that you have to edit it all on a 29.97 timeline, but does that mean it's playing my 24p footage at 29.97? I'm a little confused about how this works. I don't want my 24p footage to play back at 29.97, that would defeat the purpose of shooting in 24p. And what about when I need to blow the movie up to film?

sound mixers typically record at 48khz or 44.1khz, not in terms of frames... you'll be fine.

if you are shooting 24pA, then you'll remove the pulldown and edit on a 23.98 timeline, not 29.97. the length of the clips won't change and the audio will remain in sync.

Thanks. I'm stuck editing on a 29.97 timeline because that's what the easy set up was set as when I brought my clips into the NLE. Unless there's some way around it?
