VHS deck ?

I am looking to purchase a VHS deck to use with my nle as clients have been asking for VHS copys( :-/go figure?) anyway, I was curious what kind I should buy, I am using fuji bulk tape from tapestockonline but can I use just any old vcr with rca inputs or will I have to use a 3,000 braodcast deck for best results, note:I can't afford a broadcast deck but just asking ;D

thanks

Re: VHS deck ?

Maybe take a look at an entry level S-VHS. Just make sure it has a S-Video input as the JVCs often only have S-Video out (which makes no sense!).

Re: VHS deck ?

thanks tommy, I really hate it that people still want VHS :o do you have any recommendations on a SVHS deck, I know panny used to make a "proline" deck that was nice for the price but I doubt its still in production

Re: VHS deck ?

Mike, you're right the Panasonic AG1960 is no longer in production. I bought a JVC HR-S9911U Super VHS. It also has a built in TBC. for under $400.00 at B&H

Re: VHS deck ?

I agree with Rob about the HRS-9911 being a great deal (currently $349 @ B&H). There is also the new JVC SR-V101US which is $299 at B&H.

Good luck!

Funny I was at a Tape factory that makes special grade tapes for the Film Industry about 6 months ago doing the "tour" and saw a bunch of 20' tall crates of VHS. I asked why they where wasting the space and they explained that hollywood is going back to sending VHS rushes out, because of the whole piracy thing. So, yeah it blows but its not dead yet.
