VGA converter + 10" LCD monitor = high res production monitor?

I did try posting this elsewhere and didn't get any feedback, so I'll try again in the Hardware category. The holy grail for CHEAP dvx production monitors seems to be a minimum of 720x480 resolution. A lot of smaller LCD computer monitors easily reach this resolution. But these monitors usually don't have S-video ports, only VGA ports for computer use.

There is, however, something called a VGA converter, which allows an S-video signal to be fed into the VGA port on an LCD. These converters are mainly to allow people to watch DVD's from their DVD player on their higher res computer monitor. But I'm wondering how the VGA converter would work for production work (i.e., getting critical focus) with the DVX/M2 set-up. There's the ViewSonic Processor/TV Tuner, for example, along with a a smaller LCD monitor.

Seems like a way to get a high resolution production monitor for not too much money. Another VGA converter like this one here seems like a possibility too. I'd love to make something like this work as a monitoring solution for my DVX+M2 setup. What do y'all think?
