VFR/Pulldown Cadence Problems

Well I just recently switched over to a MAC G5 Dual Core 2.3 machine. With an added sata 2 internal drive to capture to.

Upon starting the capture process I am running into errors that frop me out of capture. "breaks in vfr/pulldown cadence were detected." Once that happens I can't capture. I should mention Footage was dhot in 24pa and I am removing the pulldown while capturing. I can't get around these errors.

If anyone can advise me I would appreciate it.

Thusfar my only work around is to capture leaving the pulldown and then go in and remove it in Cinema Tools. So far so good. I haven't done much here but it seems to be working on the limited amount of captures I've done so far. This is kind of a hassle to say the least. Why is this happening?

its not good to remove the pulldown after capture. When it is capturing, it removes the full frames, definatly. If you do it in cinema tools, it doesn't knwo what the full frames are.

I have found that no matter what you are going to get breaks in the ulldown cadence. Just keep retrying the capture. I have found it best not to capture over camera start/stops. This can cause probelms if there isn't adaquete pre/post roll, but give it a shot. Just keep retyry the capture and eventually you will be able to get all the footage in the computer.

This has been covered a LOT here so try a search.

Short answer - when ever you review, turn off and on camera, etc, hit the Rec Check on top of the camera. Make sure time code is not 00:00:00 before starting to roll.

When capturing it's best to log and capture by takes and not to try to capture an hour in one go.
