While batch capturing 24P advanced footage into FCP HD, I’ve had several clips that have “VFR/Pulldown Cadence Error”. I’ve been capturing mostly in my external G-raid, so I thought perhaps capturing into my Powerbook G4’s internal hard drive might result in better reliability. The solution worked for one clip, but didn’t for another. What’s interesting though is that while capturing the first clip, FCP at first gave the “VFR/Pulldown Cadence Error”, then gave me the option to “continue” or “cancel”. I clicked “continue” and basically FCP just tried to recapture the clip again. What I’m curious about is what FCP does differently to ensure a successful capture in case of possible “VFR/Pulldown Cadence” errors. I’m hypothesizing about what to do with the 2nd clip, and remembered there were a few times where the file scene mode switch on my Panasonic DVX-100 slipped from 24p advanced capture to 24p normal capture. I’m assuming that would result in “VFR/Pulldown Cadence Error” too, right? Any other bright solutions? Any help most appreciated.
Thanks,
Alexander
