Veryify Color Space In FCP?

I'm just now trying out shooting DVCPro50 with our HVX-200 and was wondering if Final Cut can tell me what color space my clips are? I just want to make sure my clips are 4:2:2. Thanks.

The color space is determind by the format. DVCPro50 is 4:2:2 as recorded. FCP only cares about if you set for RGB or YUV color space to work in. If you set up your Sequence settings to DVCPro50, that's a 4:2:2 format automatically. After that, all the NLE cares about is wether you want it to work in RGB or YUV color space.

In the Browser, right click on the clip, go to Item Properties, verify that it's a DVCPro50 clip. If so, it was recorded as a 4:2:2 color space, period. FCP can't change that, that's how it was recorded.

Thanks for the answer. A follow up...

Since my final output is BetaSP, would it make a difference if I work in a sequence that standard DV versus DVCPro50? Thanks again.

I'd go with the best possible image quality/color-space to record the original footage with. Go with DVCPro-50. FCP will handle the output just fine.
