Hi, it's been a while since I've been to this page so please forgive me if this has been answered about 34,867 times before. To start, I'm using VEGAS 6.

Here we go: What is the easiest way to edit selected scenes individually then join them all together as one film. I always find myself starting with the first scene and working in order. My current project will not allow that. I have to work out of order.

Could someone (in very simple terms) explain how I can accomplish this. Also, I have an existing project that I need to attach an introduction scene at the beginning is there a way to do that and preserve all my edits on the finished piece.

Any and all comments would be VERY greatly appreciated.

Thank you all.

You can either save each scene as a separate project, and then bring them all into the same timeline as nested projects, or you can render each scene (as DV or Uncompressed) and bring them all into a single timeline.

A problem that you could run into is if you're mixing the scenes with 5.1 surround. That has to be rendered as a single file for the final project, so you'll have to master it as a single timeline.

Can you explain "nested projects". Sorry, I just want to do it right. Can I move clips from the media pool from one project to the other? For example if I open vegas and then open vegas again and then click and drag shots from the main media pool into the other Vegas window.

You can bring .VEG files onto the timeline as clips, and do anything with them that you could do with any clip. In essence, the whole project in the .VEG file becomes a clip.

Then, any changes you make in THAT project will be reflected on the master timeline as soon as you resave the .VEG.
