Very basic producer advice?

Hey guys,
Until now I've basically been screwing around with some no budget shorts, but I'm interested in finally making something more solid. So, I'm starting to look for a producer. Does anybody have any suggestions, advice, insight, etc about any aspect of finding and working with a producer? Including how not to get burned as a newbie? lol Thanks!
 
What kind of producer are you looking for - one that deals with the business side, financing, etc, one that is more hands on with the production itself, both? What kind of project, feature, doc, etc.? You can always go through the Producer's Guild or find someone who has done it for the genre and budget type you are looking at. Look at credits of similar type projects and start tracking then down!
