Velocity question

I have 60 minutes of video and I need to condense it to under 30 seconds. The velocity envelope in Vegas is maxed out at 300% which is nowhere near enough.

The question is, how do I speed up my clip to run under 30 seconds?

Second question, to create optimal footage for this kind of effect, how would you shoot a clip like this with a DVX100B?

Thanks!

You are maxed out at 300%---thats as fast as you can make it go,Unfortunately, most prosumer cameras dont allow you to manipulate your frame rates on acquisition---the cheapest one I know is the new HVX by Panny---but thats fairly expensive.

You can also hold down the CTRL key, resize the clip smaller, and get 4x faster. Combined, that's 12x. Then you can render it out at the 12x faster, add the new file to the timeline, and do it all again.

Both Excalibur and the Veggie Toolkit have the "Time Bandit" tool which will speed up clips faster than 12x without intermediate renders. It works by cutting out sections of the clip. However, both cost so my previous answer was the free method.

Thanks everyone. I ended up putting my footage in Combustion and sped it up 50,000% (not the max!) using the Time Warp feature. I ended up with 60 minutes of footage that plays in under 10 seconds!

After contemplating the math, I understand why Vegas maxes out at 300%; no loss of frames. But, for my project, keeping all the frames was not required.
