Vegas7 no HDV out?

Vegas7b>Options>Preferences>Preview device>OHCI Compliant out is only for IEEE 1394/DV, my camera Sony HC1 accepts both DV/HDV but only DV-in is working. (All menu settings done wright)
HDV-in is not working because VEGAS DOES NOT SUPPORT HDVout to Firewire?
I want to go HDV-in my camera to make a HDV mastercopy on tape and also to connect my component HDV HPmonitor (Sony HC1 out).

So this is a nice update for Vegas7c? Anybody can help me out?
Thankx

You cannot preview to an HDV device; it's a limitation of how HDV itself works.

You should be able to "print to tape" for output, but you cannot firewire scrub to HDV.

Work around for monitoring?

Work around for monitoring?

Hello Barry
Thankx for your time.
This is a great disadvantage of only DVout. However I found a solution. Yes it is a long way round to get the VEGAS timeline on a seperate HD monitor so: dvfirewire out > HDV camera in > SVHSout> seperate Philips DVD recorderin> RGB component out> HDmonitor in! At least I can better decide letterhights on this bigger 25inch HP monitor.
With my Edius Canopus NX card I can go streight from RGB(Component) out to my monitor RGB-in and have HDV results on the screen. Isn't there a possible trick to lock Vegas out to this board?

I wouldn't trust that. Considering all the conversions you're going through there, and the fact that what you're seeing on the HD monitor is component SD, not HD, you're not getting an accurate picture of what your final HDV product is going to be.

Well, let's be clear: it's a disadvantage for HDV. It's HDV that's causing the problem. HDV deals in groups of frames, and it cannot process a frame unless it has the entire group to work with. So you can't just send one frame out, because one frame is meaningless without the entire group to reference from.

Firewire can send out DV, DVCPRO, DVCAM, DVCPRO50, DVCPRO-HD 720, and DVCPRO-HD 1080 all frame-discrete; that's not a problem. It's the long-GOP nature of HDV (and the forthcoming AVC-HD) that causes the inability to do firewire preview.

You could "print to tape" and monitor that way, but that involves rendering.

It would be a lot easier if you plug your 25" HD Monitor into your computer graphics cards second port and use the Preview on Secondary Display option. That’s what its there for and that’s how you get full HDV preview out of Vegas 6 & 7.
