Hi everybody! I am new here and I want somebody to help me about my problem. So,after editing my clip with Vegas5.0 I wanted to render it to VCD.Therefore I went to TOOLS>BURN VCD.I used PAL VCD /mpeg-1 format/. The clip is 34 minutes long and the rendering was 87 minutes long, then Vegas5.0 automaticaly started to burn the VCD. But then when I tried to play this burned VCD, my DVD player displayed DISK LOADING too long, and then NO DISK. All the rendering and burning process was totally successfull,so I don't know what is the problem??? The rendered clip /.mpg/ in my hard disc is ok. The only thing that I have in my mind as a reason is that after installing Vegas5.0 I uninstalled and deleted .NET, it was a long time ago. Is that the problem??? Please, give me some help and instructions about solving my problem! 10x!!!

Re: Vegas5.0 burning VCD problem

Could be a player issue. Especially if it's an older player. I have an older Sony DVD player which will not play half of the VCDs I've tried to play on it.

Re: Vegas5.0 burning VCD problem

No,my DVD player is totaly ok,I am sure!!! I tried burning VCD with Vegas5 for first time. Also, yesterday I tried that for very first time with very short piece of the clip /maybe 4 MB only/ and the result was: no good video quality,no sound!!! Very strange, huh? So,some ideas???

Re: Vegas5.0 burning VCD problem

Also I tried to play the VCD on two more DVD player, the same bad result!!!

Re: Vegas5.0 burning VCD problem

What you're describing is perfectly consistent with player incompatibility, especially the lack of sound. Try it on a very new player, and if you can pick the sound output/input, use the analog.

Re: Vegas5.0 burning VCD problem

My DVD player is released this summer /2004/!!! It can read CD,MP3,VCD,SVCD,DVD,KodakPictures,etc,etc...You don't think that the problem is because of missing DOTNET? Anyway, even if you are right, there is a reason of the problem. I think, there is some mistake in burning segments/configurations/ of my VEGAS 5,otherwise how is it possible for the DVD player to read some discs, and to doesn't read some others, right? Also, you know that if you want to make a VCD format /.mpg/,there is not any option of adjustments about that in Vegas - simply choosing mpeg,VCD NTSC or VCD PAL,that's all! That's why I think that the problem is inside the program and there is some solution but I don't know it.
Please everybody for help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also,you wrote:

Ok,but how is it possible to be yesterday without sound /the rendered clip was without sound in the computer too!!!/,and today without any recognition in my DVD player/but this today rendered clip in the computer is exactly ok!!!/?????????

Re: Vegas5.0 burning VCD problem

Look,I use one hard disc only - 80GB,free space 54GB. I red some hints about rendering that it is recomended to render using different hard discs,i.e. one for sourse, and another for rendered file. So,would the problem be because of using only one HDD?

Re: Vegas5.0 burning VCD problem

OK, try this -- instead of burning directly from the timeline, do one of these two things:

1)  Save your project under a new project name.  Then, under Tools, select "Render to New Track" and choose MPEG-1.  Use the VCD PAL template.  Once that is done, delete all of the other tracks and leave only the MPEG-1 track.  Then burn the VCD.

OR . . .

2)  Since you've already created the MPEG-1 file when you tried to burn the VCD before, open a brand new project and import that MPEG-1 file.  Burn to VCD.

Having only one hard drive is not ideal, but it should still be OK in terms of this.

Re: Vegas5.0 burning VCD problem

Thank you for advices very much,I will try it! I have many more video converters,DVD and VCD/SVCD burners, but I just want to use all the capabilities of Vegas. Also I know that one of the best and most quick programs for VCD creating is Nero -----. But in that case the procedure would be a headache - rednering with Vegas to AVI /a lot-lot-lot of time rendering!/,then burning with other special software to VCD format.
What is your practice of rendering, and what formats you use?

Re: Vegas5.0 burning VCD problem

Well, you can render out to MPEG-1 with Vegas with no problem, then any other software should be able to burn to VCD in no time. That might be your better option, actually, as Nero and like software is engineered specifically to do just that. Vegas is editing software, not burning software, so it's not going to be as robust at burning.

I hardly ever make VCDs; I know they're common in Europe and Asia, but not here. But when I make DVDs, I typically render from Vegas in the MPEG-2 for DVD Architect format.
