Vegas x64 - Any issues?

Going to update Vegas Pro 9 to the lastest version out. In the past, I heard about
problems with using the 64bit version.

Has anyone installed the lastest update/64 bit? If so, any problems / issues?

Also, is it possible to install both versions 32/64 on the same machine? I can do
this with Steinberg's Nuendo on my audio drive. Just checking...

Thanks.

Mark

P.S. I'm running Windows XP Pro x64 with Vegas Pro 9.0 32 bit w/o any issues.

Right now Vegas' latest is 9.0a. It is problematic in both 32-bit and 64-bit, especially if you are using any built-in titles. I have 9 installed but am sticking to 8.0c (very stable) until Sony irons out the bugs in 9. Usually Vegas is completely stable around the time they release c or d iteration.

Also, 8.1 (64-bit version 8) is to be completely avoided - it was a work in prgogress.
I think that 9, once it is finalized, will be the best Vegas yet, though.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll leave well enough alone for now.

My only problem is a lag issue but I'm almost certain it's because I'm running it using VMware on a Mac.

Everytime I minimize or click outside of Vegas and come back into it, it has to "think" and takes between 15 - 20 seconds before I can use it again. I have a feeling it's reconnecting media or something due to the fact that it's accessing the video files off a shared folder.

Ideas?

Are you importing files from your card reader? That will slow it down more than anything. Put em on your HD first..then import.

Card reader? No. But like I said, I'm running VMWare so all the footage is on a Mac drive that Windows is accessing via a shared folder. Which I'm almost positive is the problem, I just can't figure out a work around. Mac Drive won't work with VMWare. =/

The only issues I have with vegas (any version)are rendering ones. If you want to use Magic Bullet Looks with vegas on a HD project larger than 2 minutes, forget it. It'll crash on render. In 8-bit it'll cite low memory, even though I have 12Gb and in 32-bit mode it'll not give a reason.

So what I take your saying it was stupid for me to buy Sony Vegas Pro 9 Full version here recently, right?

I read a lot of reviews on it and nobody had any really bad things to say about Vegas Pro 9 too. Then I come across all these problems people are having (after getting it of course as I still have the unopened retail box right here on my desk). Especially this "vanishing text" issue. Now after reading about all these problems people are having with it I wish I never got it right now at least.
