Vegas won't output thru HV30

Hi folks.

I'm just now getting around to working with the HV30 and Vegas Pro 8.0c, and I'm having a slight problem.

I shot some footage in straight HDV -- not 30F or 24F. I can capture it into Vegas Pro 8.0c just fine, using an HDV 1080i-60 project template, and do anything I want with it. But for some reason, it won't preview back through the HV30 via the firewire, so I can view it on an attached TV. And I don't understand why.

When I go into the preview device options in Vegas, it shows the device as "OHCI Compliant IEEE1394/DV", but it says the device is unavailable. Which is weird, because I can capture from it just fine.

Anybody have an idea on this? It's driving me CRAZY!

Thanks in advance.

Is there a DV mode on the camera? Vegas is looking for a DV device, not HDV.

You're a genius! Thanks David!

Now.....I wonder if I have to change the camera mode back to HDV to capture? We'll see.

UPDATE: Just checked. Yep! Have to set the camera to HDV mode to capture HDV footage, then change it to DV mode for editing in order to have output through the cam to the TV. No biggie.

Thanks again David! You're a sanity-saver!
