Vegas with 3 monitors

Hello.
I have 3 Dell 24" monitors.
I am thinking how to set up the PC in order to work with the 3 of them as you usually do with 2 of them. I want them at native resolution of 1920x1200.

But i cant find a good solution.
Matrox has a 3 port adapter, but it is VGA and seems like resolution will be low.

I have heard of people using 2 video cards. that could work. But how do you do it and what do you buy? PCI? PCIe?

I have a XFX GF7900 GT Extreme Edition 1500 but shouldn´t be a problem to upgrade.

You would use multiple cards. Some motherboards have multiple PCIe ports. If so, use two PCIe cards. They don't have to be anywhere near as powerful as the card you have, because Vegas doesn't use the video card.

There are also PCI cards, but they aren't as good.

Check the specs on cards to see if they'll give you full resolution; I expect most will.

I believe you cannot use your on-board graphics card with your existing at the same time. I had a 9700pro agp card and a 7000ve card PCI card setup to have 3 monitors before. Just had to set in bios for PCI to load first. But with now higher grade graphic cards like PCI-e or PCI-x cards you can run up to 4 monitors at the same time. You will also need enough PSU power to run them all at the same time but it can be done. It depends on your existing MB spec's. I use a ASrock 939 Dual and it advertises that it can do up to 4 monitors at the same time.

I was thinking in using the XFX GF7900 GT Extreme Edition 1500 as main graphics card and a similar one (maybe XFX GF7600GT XXX?) conected via SLI so they can work together to display in the 3 24" screens.

I only wonder how will windows XP show me the screens in the display manager.

Once you get that set up could you take a picture please, because 3 24" monitors back-to-back-to-back is somewhat of a fantasy of mine.

in your display properties setup it will ask you to designate your main monitor and then you can check the box to have it as extend this windows desktop onto this monitor. Unfortunately it will tend to make it one big monitor and not 3 separate home screens. You will have to reposition your individual windows to your own liking for Vegas. I also use Ultramon for my multiple display since I don't care for ATI's Hydravision setup.
