vegas shutdown..

I just got magic bullet editors 2.0 and am using vegas for editing. Everything has installed but when I try to apply one of the presets to even a small amount of video, it get an error that vegas 6.0 must has encountered and error and must shut down. I have uninstalled and reinstalled magic bullet but the same thing happened. I'm using the following:

3 Ghz dual processor
windows xp sp2
vegas 6.0

I do only have 512 RAM at this time but I will be getting more. Would this be an issue. Any other ideas or suggestions as to what would be causing this?? I will try to reinstall vegas too but I have too many projects in the works at this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think I may have found my problem...that being the RAM. I know it's really low but everything has always worked so I haven't put money into it yet. I just read on their site that the min. RAM requirements are 1 GB. This may solve my problem but I would like to hear any other suggestions if you have any.
