Vegas Rendering - 4:3 Black Bar Removal

Hey guys,

I have a music video I'm putting on the web. Shot in 4:3 Letterbox. I want to Render in Quicktime and remove the black bars from the top and bottom, but it always ends up centering the footage and keeping them. Some of the zombiefest videos looked great, actually the texas Fortune "look" that's up now is what I need.

If anyone knows the best settings for this rendering, and if you could post it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hope you all have a great holiday season!

With quicktime, you have to use square pixels in export.

Just do a custom width and height so you can set it manually.

multiply the width by 0.5625

So if you want to create a movie 480 pixels wide, multiply 480x0.5625 and you get 270 instead of 480x360.

Hope that makes sense, if not, let me know.

Do you mean render it to an AVI in Vegas then export it to quicktime after for secondary rendering? Also rendering that frame size in Vegas with quicktime is giving me huge file sizes...I need the 4 minute video to be at about 35 MB...

Thanks for the help!

Your video on the timeline can be whatever.

Just make sure when you go to export, you choose custom settings. I've attempted to illustarate, hopefully that makes it more clear and not more confusing. You could try 1mbps video or 3mbps, I think you could get a 4 minute video at 400 x 225 at 3mbps to be around 35mb.

Alos...after you render like that, try rendering at some lower frame rates, see how low you can go before it stops looking good.
