Vegas QT import question

I recently imported a bunch of QT clips for a Vegas project and noticed that the program wrote a bunch of separate files like ".sfk" that matched the original clip names but added the new suffix.

Why does Vegas do this and is there a way to hide the added files from view?

Thanks

I think they have to do with the thumbnail pictures and audio waveform pictures for that particular file. As far as I know there is no way to hide them from view. Maybe Windows explorer can be set to hide any files with a particular extension?

Those are the audio wave form files.

Not sure what you mean by "hide" -- you mean make it so that you can't see them in the Windows folder?

Thanks guys. I just thought it was strange that the folder I imported the clips from would suddenly have new files next to them. It must be a default behavior of Vegas--I should've told the program to save the generated audio files to a different folder. As far as wanting to "hide" the files...I'm just that way when it comes to how I deal with my media files. It's a little confusing if I want to import the media into another program and now I have files with duplicate names--only with different suffixes.

Why does it need to generate new audio files from the original video clips?

Thanks again for the help. :)

It doesn't generate audio files. Those files are the graphic waveforms of the audio that you see on the timeline.

Thanks David, I figured it was the actual waveform files due to the small file size. Still, I wish it would generate and store the files somewhere else by default.

Agreed.

Is there a way anyone knows of within Windows itself to say "hide files with these extensions: .sfk" so they don't show up in the windows explorer?

Not offhand. Never really bothered me enough to look. If I thought they were getting in the way, I just arranged the icons by file type.
