Vegas problems

Hello. im begginer in filmmaking/ i faced some problems with this prog (Vegas 6.0). i try to upload video (*.avi) but it uploads only sound. u know wats the problem? plz help me out. Why it shows only audio?

Is it a DivX .avi file? If so, you'll have to download the DivX codecs, and they'll be tricky to work with anyway.

mmmm it says Video: " Stream attributs could not be determined"
u know what's the problem?

That's why you have to install some codec to solve that.

It could be an Xvid or any number of other codecs. I'd be inclined to agree with David in that it sounds like a DivX problem. But it could be encoded with some other crazy codec too. Good luck finding out what it is.

You're going to have to find out the codec. Anything we guess will just be stabs in the dark. See if you can contact whoever the source is.

Try running your video with this program - http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

After analyzing the video stream it should tell you what kind of codec it is, or at least get you close. Worked for me before.

thx for prog a lot. hmm it says " Stream type: OpenDML AVI" i downloaded a lot of codec but still it doesnt help. Maybe u guys know any good program like Vegas?

That doesn't tell you the codec. Try Gspot. it's usually very specific.

I am having the same problem. I know i have the right codec cause the AVI file plays in whatever media player i pick. Its just when i try to work on the file in Vegas. Any ideas?
by the way gspot says that vid codec is div3 and audio codec is ac3.
