Has anyone here used Vegas Pro and burned Blue ray disks? Can it be done? I'm looking into buying a BD burner but I'm still learning to use Vegas Pro. I'm have some trouble with DVD archietect but I''ll figure it out. I just want to know if you can burn good quality HD movies with Pro?
Thanks

Vegas Pro 8b?

Vegas Pro 8b does not come with an authoring program for Blu-ray.
It does have an option to burn blu-ray right from the timeline to a standrd DVD. I believe it might hold up to 30 minutes on a standard DVD. I believe these discs only play back on the Sony PS3.

This process works great for quick checks of your work on your PS3 out to your HDTV.

It works great, but you have to manually start the movie nested in the stream sub directory.

Vegas Pro 8.0 burns Blu-ray BDMV format to BD-R, BD-RE, and DVD recordable media. If your choose to use a standard DVD it should play back on most newer Blu-ray players. My Samsung BD-P1400 plays them back just fine and they auto-start when inserted. There was a time when they only played back on a PS3 but this is no longer true.

Works fine on my PS3, I burned one yesterday.
Sorry for not being clearer. My comment was because you said that the PS3 was the only player that could play them and I just wanted to point out that lots of other players can play them now too.

So let me rephrase: There was a time when the only player that could play Blu-ray burned to DVD-R was a PS3. Today, however, there are a lot of players that can play them in addition to the PS3 which, obviously, still plays them too.

re: BD Burning

YOur saying I can burn BD format onto a Regular DVD? Can it be a regular DVD or does it have to be a DVD-RW? If this is the case when I go to render in Vegas what are the settings if you don't mind me asking. I want to get this right.
Thanks for answering and helping out.

Just select your footage footage on the timeline and go to tools>Burn Disc>Blu-Ray Disc.
Choose your blu-ray format and select the Dolby Digital audio format.

Drop a regular DVD in and you're off.

So what Blu-Ray burners are you guys using? I have a bunch of Disney I would like to burn in HD.

I burned the timeline to blur-ay on regular dvd-r a few weeks ago. Played on sony blu-ray but skipped played on samsung but skipped did not play on the panny at all. I used the standard setting for audio. someone said use Ac3??

I just tried this with Vegas 8 on my Toshiba AMD laptop...and it worked!

I took some Canon HDV 24F footage and burned to DVD-R using the 1080 24p encoding option.

I don't even own a PS3 or BluRay player yet--I took the DVD over to Best Buy and played it on a Sony player hooked up to a 1080p Bravia. The disc just auto-played, which was nice.

It looked really really nice. This is a cool little feature in Vegas. :)
