I currently use Vegas Pro 11, but I am about to purchase the Panasonic HPX250 which uses the P2 cards. Vegas will not natively handle the P2 card formats but Adobe Premiere states that it will.
If I use Vegas I will have to buy an additional piece of software called Raylight for about $200 to convert the P2 files before importing into Vegas, whereas, as a student I can buy the Premiere Production suite for under $400 and get Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, Flash, Adobe's sound programs and On Location.
Other than the fact that I will have to learn Premiere (I am not an expert in Vegas either, up until now I've only had need for its occasional use) are there any compelling reasons to stay with Vegas?
Thanks,
Dan
