I have noticed this bug in Vegas Platinum for quite some time and I finally got annoyed enough to E-mail Sony.
I wrote "Any GoPro-HD MP4 files larger then 2 gig Sony Vegas plat 9 gives the error "none of the files dropped on Vegas Movie Studio Platinum could be opened". But any files smaller then 2 gigs I have no issues with. I have been working around this issue by using AVIDEMUX to chop the files in half but this is a poor solution to a problem that shouldn't exits". And yes I use NTFS. Anyway Sony responded back with this.
Thank you for contacting Sony Creative Software.
Lets have you download and evaluate Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 10 for this specific import issue. I am seeing this issue reported in our database for previous versions of Vegas Platinum but not the current version.

So basically I'm suppose to just buy Platinum HD because the older version is bugged... That just struck me as kind of lame... They could of offered to give me a special deal if I upgrade. I really do want to upgrade to "Vegas Move Studio HD Platinum 10 Production suite" (God! could the name be any longer?) the image stabilization would be nice and $129 is it a good value for the money. Or maybe I should just bite the bullet and get Vegas Pro?
OR... Maybe I shouldn't give them any money for not standing behind their previous products. I understand you can't support a product forever but Plat 9 isn't that old. I duno, what do you think?
